OK, ya’ll. There’s another really important strike going on, and the workers waging it need our help.
I’m talking about the Warrior Met strike, happening in Brookwood, Alabama.
About 1100 workers have been on strike there since April 1st—that’s a lot of people striking for a long time. Why? Read about it here 👇🏼
Alabama's Coal Miners Are Striking for Their Lives
First we can call Blackrock, Warrior Met's largest shareholder, and demand they support a contract proposal that would put an end to the strike: 212-810-5800
Simply say:
"I'm calling from [city, state] because I know Blackrock is the largest shareholder in Warrior Met, the coal mining company whose workers are currently on strike in Alabama. I'd like you to put pressure on Warrior Met to give the coal miners what they're asking for and resolve this strike. BlackRock has said it believes in “sustainable investing," but you're enabling a company that is abusing strikers and breaking promises. Not cool."
Second, we can call Warrior Met and tell them we’re pissed at the way they’re treating these miners. 205-554-6150 (ask for Phillip Saunders, Kelli Gnat, and Jack Richardson. Those are the ones who are involved in negotiations.
Say:
"I'm calling from [city, state] because I'm concerned at the way Warrior Met is treating its striking workers. We've heard about trucks being driven into the picketers, armed surveilance of the picketlines, and more. It's terrible. Please stop this abuse and treat them with dignity and respect. Also, give them what they're asking for and resolve this strike. Their demands are entirely reasonable and in line with what other coal-miners in the area are making. Thanks."
Third, we can donate to the strike pantry that is currently helping to feed and clothe these workers.

And finally, we can call our Senators and demand they support the strikers AND pass the PRO Act so that workers get the fair treatment they deserve.
Say:
"My name is ________ and I'm a constituent from ________. I'm calling because I want the Senate to pass the PRO Act (HR 482) right away. I'm tired of seeing workers treated terribly in this country. Also please ask the Senator to stand with Warrior Met workers in Alabama and vocally support their strike."
